Shore Treasures: Shard

This painting is from a series of oil pastels depicting some of the many shards of pottery I have found on the shores of Strangford Lough in County Down, Northern Ireland.

Although just tiny fragments with glimpses of pattern and colour, they give a tantalizing insight into the past, letting us imagine what sort of item they might have come from.
